In Magadan, on the borders of Siberia, the frozen earth keeps its secrets: the gold deposits and the forgotten mass graves of the Gulag. Senya, a young poet born in this place where winter is eternal, is haunted by the trauma buried in his native land. He refuses to become like his father, also a poet, and an alcoholic. To escape the family apartment, Senya visits the residents of the Maison des Invalides, many of whom worked in the gold mines and lived through the death of Stalin. There, he becomes the confidant of the stories of the past. He finds meaning in his life by worshiping a goddess, to whom he offers animals, whose blood he pours on the snow. However, he still has to overcome his greatest fear: his father.
